What is All-time high (ATH)?

The highest price an asset has ever reached. Every coin page on this site shows the ATH and how far today's price sits below (or above) it.

The all-time high is an asset's highest recorded price โ€” part milestone, part psychological magnet. Markets behave differently near ATHs: previous buyers are all in profit (no one is waiting to "get back to even" and sell), which is why breakouts to new highs often run, and why the financial press only rediscovers crypto when Bitcoin prints one.

The more useful number is usually the distance below ATH, which every coin page here shows. A coin 85% under its high isn't automatically "cheap" โ€” it's telling you what the market once believed and no longer does; plenty of coins never return. Anchoring to an old ATH as a "target" is one of the classic reasoning errors this asset class encourages.

FAQ

Is a coin far below its ATH a bargain?

Not by that fact alone. The old high proves the price is possible, not probable โ€” many coins never revisit theirs, and our graveyard holds former giants at zero. Judge the asset, not the distance.

Why do new ATHs attract so much buying?

Above the old high, every holder is in profit and overhead resistance is gone, while media coverage pulls in newcomers โ€” a mechanical and psychological tailwind that also, historically, marks the euphoric end of cycles.
