Tangem Wallet review (2026)
Seedless cards for normal humans

Our take
Tangem takes everything people find hard about hardware wallets โ the seed phrase ceremony, the device setup, the little screens โ and replaces it with NFC cards you tap against your phone. A set of cards (each a backup of the others) with EAL6+ chips, covering roughly 90 chains and 16,000+ assets, for A$119.
The radical choice is the default seedless model: keys are generated in the card and never exist anywhere else. Lose all your cards and there is nothing to recover โ which is exactly the property that makes it phishing-proof. Know thyself before choosing it.

Pros & cons
Pros
- Dedicated secure element (EAL6+ card)
- Broad asset support: ~90 chains / 16,000+ assets
- Affordable entry point at A$119
Cons
- Closed-source firmware โ you trust the vendorโs claims
- Self-custody means self-responsibility: lose the seed phrase (or access), lose the funds
How secure is Tangem Wallet?
No seed phrase means no seed-phrase theft โ the attack that empties more wallets than any hardware flaw ever has. The EAL6+ card chip is genuinely secure, and the multi-card backup model is sound if the cards are stored separately. The firmware is closed source and the model depends on card redundancy: treat the backup cards as seriously as bullion.
Who is Tangem Wallet for?
โ Good fit ifโฆ
- You (or the person youโre buying for) will never reliably manage a seed phrase
- You want tap-to-sign phone convenience
- You want cheap, broad multi-chain cold storage
โ Look elsewhere ifโฆ
- You want a traditional recoverable seed you control
- You verify complex DeFi transactions โ cards have no display
- Open-source firmware matters to you
Getting started with Tangem Wallet
- 1 Buy from the official store only
Order Tangem Wallet direct (our Buy button goes there) or from an authorised AU reseller. Never second-hand, never marketplace sellers โ pre-tampered devices are a real scam.
- 2 Set up and back up offline
Tap each card to your phone to generate keys โ then store the backup cards in separate, safe places. The cards ARE the backup.
- 3 Verify with a test transfer
Send a small amount from your exchange first, confirm it arrives, then move the rest. Verify the receive address on the device screen, not just your computer.
- 4 Store device and backup separately
The device in one place, the recovery phrase in another. Anyone holding the phrase holds the funds โ treat it like the asset itself.

The bottom line
The best hardware wallet for people who would otherwise lose the seed phrase โ its biggest weakness is also its whole point.
